Position Summary: 

Directs all resources related to Flight Training Simulation Devices engineering and maintenance operations and projects.  Manages manpower, equipment acquisitions, updates, and budget to ensure goals and objectives of the Miami Training Center are achieved. Assures that the aviation authority regulatory programs standards are achieved and robust.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  1. Description: 60%
  • Assure that the AACST-T department conforms to associated ATC Miami and corporate strategies, Airbus customer service objectives, regulatory, legal and ethical standards and quality.
  • As part of the Senior Management Team, Identify, contribute and as required champion training center strategies, provide business cases to enhance the business growth, product conformity and improvements, customer and employee satisfaction.
  • Provide leadership and coaching for the department and employees. Promotes the Airbus culture of ethics, integrity, diversity, team work, develop and support the employees.
  • Assure that the Aviation Authorities (FAA/EASA, etc.) approval and qualification programs are implemented and meet/exceed regulatory requirements.  
  • Plan, recruit, staff, organize, direct and control technical training resources in accomplishing goals and objectives of the Training Center equipment and personnel.
  • Coordinate with external engineering contractors for the development and upgrading of simulator software and hardware.
  • Ensure costs related to maintaining simulation equipment and engineering updates are within budget.
  • In consultation with upper management, assist in the development of the annual department budget along with providing recommendations concerning equipment and other resources to meet future needs.
  • Provides oversite of departmental quality programs, administrative policies and procedures. Execute and monitor quality statistics (KPI's, quality improvement plans etc).
  • supporting ATR and other maintenance contracts, following the contract obligations and monthly reporting

  • Serve as the Program Manager of the various update and engineering projects.
  • Work with our internal and external domestic and international partners in assuring our training device policies and related strategic initiatives are approved, budgeted, launched, implemented and sustained within our operations.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training

 

Education:

  • BS in Business, Electronics or Computer Engineering or Technical Operations required.

Experience:

  • Min 5 years' experience in administration including FSTD simulation maintenance operations preferred
  • Experience in aviation training, fixed wing piloting, managing teams, project management preferred.
  • Experience working with FAA/EASA and other AA regulations and regulators required.

 

Licensure/Certifications: N/A

 

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Project Management training and capabilities.
  • Finance training, ability to run departmental and project budgets in excess of $1M
  • Leadership skills, ability to lead, engage and motivate technical teams within a union environment.
  • Knowledge of implementing and sustaining FAA/EASA and other AA regulations and related quality programs.

 

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Excellent communication skills

 

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ms-Project
  • Experience with SAP or similar Tools for procurement and logistic operations
  • Ability to learn and adapt to specific software tools used for the position.

  • Assure staffing and schedules for employee personnel, FAA/EASA and other AA regulatory oversite, equipment qualifications and auditing are established and sustained.
  • Program Manager on training equipment related projects with associated decision authority.
  • FAA/EASA SQMS process owner related to quality and regulator compliance.
  • Make purchasing decisions within department or assigned project budgets
  • Resolve employee, customer, FAA/EASA and other AA authority issues and conflicts. Escalate as required to proper decision authority and responsible team (HR, Legal etc).
  • Champion decisions that benefit improve departments and organizations quality and success.

Job Dimensions, Contributions to Success:

  • Responsible for FSTD, APT, Cabin and other Flight Training Equipment operational maintenance to 98% reliability levels, and engineering updates on time and on budget.
  • Contribute to TCF customer survey 90% and above.
  • Manage department and project budgets. Provide costs savings.
  • Contribute to the organizations Flight and Maintenance Training programs and customer satisfaction by assuring customers are trained on highest quality, safest and most realistic training devices.
