Position Summary:

The Regional General Procurement Director is responsible for the management of an assigned Region across all Divisions under the "One Roof" and any associated Account Management activities in addition to local fulfillment management (Operations and Local Sourcing).

The Regional General Procurement Director is responsible for c. $250 million regional annual spend volume across the different General Procurement commodities. Provides direction, organization and support to local Group General Procurement team(s). Is the guarantor of a compliant procurement process towards the business.

 Primary Responsibilities:

Account Management: 40%

1. Act as focal point for top management in customer organizations and entities in assigned Region/Divisions. Drive the procurement strategy through interactions with key stakeholders, including new business entities (A^3, Airbus Aerial) across Canada, the USA and Mexico.

2. Ensure proactive management of the relationship with internal business partners to ensure target level of customer satisfaction for the Region/Divisions. The activities include analysis of customer satisfaction survey results as well as development and implementation of identified improvement measures.

3. Functions as the escalation point for customers of all European commodities where operational ambiguities exist and to provide technical and creative support for the resolution of all European commodities issues. Support on-site Account Management & Business Operations and routinely engage in 2-way communication with local plant management.

4. Ensure regular two-way communication with key functional and local customers on Group General Procurement needs, expectations and initiatives.

5. Participate in strategic planning meetings of internal business partners for defined Commodities to ensure alignment with Commodity Management linked to established SLAs.

6. Coordinate decision proposals for SLA change requests.

7. Resolve conflicts and act as escalation point for general procurement issues, etc.

8. Lead or participate in Divisional Leadership meetings.

9. Define and drive implementation of target scenario for fulfillment in complete alignment with Fulfillment Integration team and continue to lead once achieving fully operational status.

10. Ensure compliance to the GP procurement process linked to tactical and transactional processes and compliance to the agreed threshold for NA between Strategic (commodities) and Tactical (regional) sourcing

11. Support local global sourcing, working hand-in-hand with global contracting in the commodities


Savings Program Support 15%

1. Ensure achievement of saving targets with customer groups at both the regional and divisional levels in accordance with agreed and recognized methodologies.

2. Optimize bundling opportunities to leverage the buying power of the Group in the Region by driving local for local sourcing and contributing to local for global initiatives

3. Escalate to commodity managers and savings program team to ensure/maintain effective operations.

4. Drive relationships with key internal stakeholders to obtain buy-in to savings targets and the joint development of procurement plans for sourcing events.

5. Share Airbus Group savings program reports with customer groups.

6. Position Group General Procurement and the savings program communication a key role in divisional communication.

7. Report on savings in terms of procurement performance, Total Cost of Ownership and EBIT contribution

Local Team Management 15%

1. Lead team of 16 FTEs spread over 7 US locations (Miami, Mobile Engineering Center, Mobile FAL, Wichita, Columbus, Grand Prairie, Herndon).o Support the Key Account Managers to manage all Group General Procurement team members located in the designated Region (e.g. staffing).

2. Monitor relationships with HR and ensure access and feedback is effective, timely and mutually responsive.

Integration of teams: 10%

1. Monitor the implementation of the designated organization and provide support and oversight to Key Account Manager(s) providing guidance and direction to ensure the organization of resources for the Group.

2. Develop initiatives, propose policies and institute policies that support the change process to the Group General Procurement organization. Drive implementation of local conditions for the Group General Procurement staff.

Fulfillment 10%

1. Ensure compliant fulfillment process meeting agreed target KPIs and ensure timely payment to the supplier at highest efficiency.

2. Ensure general procurement process within a specific business context up to defined thresholds and beyond those boundaries when delegated.

3. Ensure high level of customer satisfaction with respect to fulfillment at regional/divisional level. Manage the regional Key Account Managers and external service providers to achieve regional/divisional fulfillment goals/KPIs.

4. Manage regional transition of fulfillment activities to achieve target scenario, including harmonization of business processes across Divisions.

5. Drive innovation and digitalization in the procurement process through the deployment of state-of-the-art processes and tools.

General Management 10%

1. Secure budget and headcount compliance with agreed-upon targets.

2. Operate the business model of GP by ensuring efficient operations (operating cost @<1% of spend).

3. Ensure development and training of the team as a group and individuals to maximize their performance, expertise and potential.

Additional Responsibilities:  

Other duties as assigned:  

  • Liaising with General Procurement in Europe to ensure alignment with commodity strategies
  • Ensuring a strong drumbeat with team on operational and project-led objectives, through regular meetings and 1-2-1s.
  • Establish of individual objectives and regular follow-up with the team
  • Oversight and sponsorship of Multi-Functional and Multi-Divisional Teams for key internal customers
  • Tackling issues as the escalation point for operations and sourcing activity. Further escalates to management as appropriate.
  • Ensure the procurement strategy reflects local imperatives (e.g. Supply chain diversity and inclusion).
  • Ensures operations are effective and efficient. PO's are issued according to the quality, time and operating cost expected by the business
  • Ensures operations are compliant to GP rules
  • Deployment and operational stability of GP tools for sourcing and ordering. Ensures the adoption of these tools by internal customers and the GP team.
  • Participates in steering committees on Procure-to-Pay and other strategic initiatives
  • Drumbeats changes in the General Procurement across the "One Roof" to reflect the changing needs of the business (new businesses, acquisitions, divestments).
  • Oversees the GP process. Actively participates in audits and acts in accordance with findings (as necessary). Manages the deviation process.
  • Contributes to the AAP community through participation in management decisions and all activities concerning the Regional Sourcing Office
  • Attends steering committees at Divisional level to track SLA performance and the evolution of GP in accordance with business needs.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training: 


  • Required: A Masters' Degree in Business Administration, Management or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain Management


  • Required: 10 years of experience in the indirect procurement field, preferably in the aviation industry.
  • Preferred: 5-10 years supervisory or leadership experience in the procurement field.

 Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

 Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English both written and verbal is required. Fluency in French, German and/or Spanish is highly desirable.

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • eProc, SAP, Click n Buy, Microsoft Office applications

Travel Required:

  • 50-60 % Domestic and International

  • The jobholder will be required to make purchasing decisions up to $1 000 000 based on the procedures followed in procurement.
