Position Summary:

Reporting directly to Head of Business Transformation, the Business Transformation Manager is responsible to support company-wide transformation initiatives that are of strategic importance to the Executive Leadership of Airbus and its Divisions in the North America region. In this capacity, he/she will act as a change leader across organizational silos, supporting business-critical initiatives that impact a broad cross-section of financial and non-financial KPIs including enterprise cost reduction programs, legal and operational integrations of subsidiaries and new acquisitions from M&A transactions, and the deployment of digital business models supporting new revenue streams. As a key member of the Business Transformation Office, he/she will also develop and implement best-in-class project, program and portfolio management methods while utilizing a broad set of enterprise systems and tools.

 

Additionally, he/she will take an active role participating in and/or leading a portfolio of transformation projects that impact various support functions such as Finance, HR, IM, Procurement and Legal as well as projects with interfaces to Airbus operations, which include engineering, customer support, distribution, training and manufacturing units. As either a project manager or business partner to project managers, the role holder will ensure a robust drumbeat on project milestone adherence and play an important role in ensuring proper project governance through the validation of project deliverables. Finally, as a contributor to highly visible strategic initiatives, he/she must effectively communicate with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders within project and program steering bodies comprised of members of Airbus Americas' senior leadership team.

Primary Responsibilities:

Project Management Leadership and/or Support: 50%

  • Capture and analyze project requirements and support project managers to define and implement project plans and author project documentation
  • Generate robust project business cases, inclusive of non-recurring costs and recurring savings as well as assessments of project risks and opportunities
  • Monitor and control progress and use of resources based on project objective performance measures including milestones/maturity gates 
  • Manage project risks by providing support to the project manager in developing contingency plans and risk registers 
  • Support the preparation of key project milestone reviews, to be delivered to an executive audience, developing communication materials and decision-support documents that facilitate investment decisions

Program Management Office (PMO) Support: 20%

  • Support the administration of a portfolio of 3-5 business transformation programs with a combined 30+ business transformation projects, applying financial controlling standards and portfolio management best practices 
  • Support the definition of project management methodologies and best practices to be applied across the portfolio of active projects 
  • Synthesize large sets of financial and non-financial data and develop robust reporting outputs for key steering bodies comprised of Airbus executives 

New Business & Corporate Development Support: 20% 

  • Support the project definition, planning and execution phase of Airbus' green field investments into existing and/or new business activities in the region, including industrial expansion projects and new digitally-driven business models 
  • Support project management efforts related to the pre-transaction and post-merger-integration phases of M&A transactions that implicate Airbus operations in the North Americas region 
  • Support project management efforts related to the commercialization and scaling of early stage R&D projects and/or early stage portfolio investments of Airbus 

Other duties as assigned: 10% 

  • Support the definition and implementation of corporate-wide training and education programing for key competences identified as strategic priorities for supporting business transformation 
  • Support the creation of program communication multi-media materials for delivery to stakeholders across North America 

Skills & Competences:

The candidate should have a strong competence in project management as well as being well versed in financial analysis and performance management. In addition, he/she should be competent utilizing the extended suite of Microsoft desktop and online tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project and SharePoint. Exposure to lean management and continuous improvement best practices is as well highly appreciated.

Additionally, he/she should have a demonstrated track record of success managing complex cross-functional initiatives within matrix organizations and as well be a skilled communicator. The candidate should be able to build and maintain relationships across the organization to grow awareness of the role the Business Transformation function plays in cross-functional and cross-divisional initiatives. Finally, he/she should bring with them a disruptive mindset and strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to deliver presentations and communications materials to senior leaders within Airbus. 

 

Qualifications:

Required: 

  • 5+ years' experience in one or more of the following functional areas: 
    • Project Management
    • Financial Analysis
    • Performance Management
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Natural Sciences or a related field 
  • Strong user of Microsoft applications Power Point, Excel, Word and Access 
  • Ability to adapt to new and changing systems and tools as needed 
  • Productive & creative self-starter able to manage multiple priorities and organize workload autonomously 
  • Strong Communication and presentation skills 

 

Preferred: 

  • Master's Degree in in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Natural Sciences or a related field 
  • Project Management Accreditation (i.e. PMP or similar) 
  • Experience or exposure to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and other Corporate Finance transactions 
  • Familiarity and experience with Microsoft Project, SharePoint and Visio 
  • International work and/or study-abroad experiences 
  • Exposure to the Aerospace industry and related sectors
