This position will facilitate technology sourcing by gathering and evaluating information in the field of science and technology against either a pull from defined scouting needs or providing a push from external opportunities.

The role involves the systematic search and facilitation of technology sourcing in the areas of interest to Chief Technology Office (CTO) missions. The scientific and technical disciplines covered will span a wide spectrum, from new materials and processes to innovative flying vehicles.  The sources of such information may also range from start-ups, SMEs to well established academic research labs.

 Specific responsibilities: 

  • Management of a clustered portfolio of scouting topics.
  • Ensure clear and robust definition of needs agreed with internal stakeholders.
  • Manage external scouting companies.
  • Identify partners with relevant capabilities with the support of subject experts.
  • Ensure network and strong relationships with key research institutions.
  • Prepare reports addressing scouting needs, and prepare technology trends reports.
  • Facilitate projects initiation, monitoring, and closure in coordination with internal customers and R&T Support.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed.

 

Your Boarding Pass

 

  • An advanced degree in Engineering or Applied Sciences with background in Aerospace.
  • Strong knowledge of the US innovation ecosystem.
  • Strong experience in International Technology Scouting for highly engineered products in aerospace or adjacent industries such as auto, heavy machinery, offshore, nuclear etc.
  • Exposure to multiple technical disciplines of interest to aerospace would be a plus, among, for example : materials, coatings, propulsions, energy sources and storage,  manufacturing methods, software systems for design, manufacturing and assembly, embedded systems and software, communication, sensors, and data assimilation including Big data analytics / AI/ML etc.
  • A track record of having successfully identified and integrating into mainstream partners with new and innovative offerings.
  • A track record of creating and nurturing new business partnerships.
  • Knowledge of Airbus, its products, services, operations would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of product life cycle from lab research to market launch, including ways of managing complex projects would be an asset.
  • Experience in dealing with Intellectual Property and sensitive information /data when dealing with partners.
