Airbus has created a new startup called Airbus Aerial ( in the commercial unmanned aircraft space focused on services and are seeking experienced professionals to join this new group. The key technologies for this group include a customer-facing data portal and drone services cloud platform used to enable the scaled operations of drone pilots and services companies around the world.

Senior Software Development Manager

The ideal candidate would have experience in building diverse and skilled teams, leading the development of new and complex products, and a strong technical background to understand the development in details.  This position is located in Atlanta, GA.  


  • Work with the engineers and product team to maintain a prioritized backlog and create short term and long term goals
  • Keep the team in sync with the entire project by leading sprint planning and daily standups
  • Work closely with Chief Software Architect to distill high level product and system requirements into easy to digest tasks which can be scoped and assigned to individual engineers
  • Perform regular 1-on-1's with individual team members
  • Provide continuous feedback, address underperformance, and recognize the individual strengths and contributions of your team members.
  • Work closely with the recruiting team to hire high potential candidates from diverse backgrounds, and build an environment that retains these individuals
  • Create plans for prioritizing technical and resourcing challenges in your organization
  • Build, design, and iterate on workflow processes and tools

Position Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in a technical or scientific field.
  • Work experience both in the individual contributor role and 3+ years experience in engineering management
  • A record of leading engineering and product teams to successful product launch
  • Experience in rapid prototype start-up environments
  • The ability to ask engineers, architects, and product leaders good and insightful questions about technical decisions
  • The ability to attract great teammates
  • Clear communication skills
  • The knowledge to understand when a team should work through problems and when you need to jump in and help
  • Ability to write modern, intuitive and high performance client side applications using Material Design guidelines. 3+ years experience in Javascript, Typescript, HTML, CSS and preprocessing platforms such as LESS and SASS are preferred.
  • Experience in building web applications using modern Javascript framework and tooling such as AngularJS 2, Node JS, Webpack and Grunt.
  • Experience working with Agile, Continuous Delivery approaches such as Continuous Integration, TDD.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Leaflet, OpenLayer 3 or MapBox JS is a plus.
  • Experience is building mapping and charting applications is a plus
