New Business Models and Services

New Business Models and Services (aka NBM) is a new start-up organization for Airbus and is focused on creating new business from digitally-enhanced business models and services.  The NBM organization is an integral part of the Airbus Digital Transformation Initiative with responsibility to create the new disruptive business models across Airbus in America, including Airbus Americas; Airbus Defense and Space, Inc., and Airbus Helicopters, Inc.    

The position of Venture Executive will report directly to the VP & Head of New Business Models and Services. The main purpose of the role is to advance a specific new business model jointly with a team that can be drawn from the respective division, from across Airbus and/or externally. The Venture Executive serves as the General Manager during the build-up of the new business model. Business models can be both greenfield, e.g. starting with a customer target group only, or brownfield, e.g. extending and exiting business model further. The role requires high level of autonomy, agility, and getting things done attitude. You will essentially be running a start-up.

Key responsibilities include

  • Understand customer pain points and unmet needs, e.g. through 'personas' / 'customer journeys'
  • Ideate and detail potential solutions
  • Understand the competitive environment and the art of the technologically possible.
  • Test product/service hypotheses early with potential customers and refining them
  • Define and drive the build of the minimum viable product and the long-term product vision
  • Design the commercial model (pricing, go-to-market, ...)
  • Build the business plan
  • Build/hire a cross functional team, jointly with respective division, and help set it up in optimal setup
  • Support the commercialization and ongoing refinement of user experience and feature roadmap
  • Interface with the Quantum program stakeholders, present to senior stakeholders
  • Manage timelines, budget and critical milestones
  • 20-30% international and/or domestic travel per year.

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • A minimum of ten (10) years' experience in hi-tech and/or aerospace industry, with intimate knowledge of hi-tech/startup ecosystem around the world (USA/Europe/Asia). 
  • Proven track record of creating successful customer-centric new startups or developed new businesses within large companies.
  • Game changer mindset.
  • Technical / product management acumen
  • Quantification/business modeling, go-to-market, and monetization experience
  • Strong project management skills
  • Great influence and impact skills.
  • Results focused, detailed oriented, getting things done attitude
  • Team player, collaborative working style
  • Thought leader with extensive industry network (ie; published papers, conference speaker, etc.).
  • Strong communications skills at all levels of the organization
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, IT, Business and/or Finance preferred; MBA desired.
  • Language skills fluent English; French and/or German working level
