Position Summary: 

Cabin and Cargo Engineering Field Engineers (EFE) are Change Management or Cabin Engineering experts who drive improvement at our suppliers' sites, in their engineering function. There will be frequent travel to these sites.  This position will be deployed in a variety of missions that optimize supplier processes securing Airbus Engineering Processes and lead to improved robust and repeatable quality and delivery performance.  

Primary Responsibilities:

A Cabin and Cargo Engineering Field Engineer is part of a multi-functional team (procurement, programs, and engineering) that will implement Corrective/Improvement/ Development/ Assessment missions at suppliers, using a variety of Airbus standardized tools and techniques, ensuring proper supplier development in alignment with Airbus Engineering processes.

To do so, the Cabin and Cargo Engineering Field Engineer has to establish and develop a very strong and sustainable relationship with both the Supplier and the Airbus stakeholders from the different functions involved, especially Engineering.

To deliver results in compliance with our business objectives, the position will lead these missions to:

  • Assess the supplier capacity, capability and performance related to Engineering processes and deliverables to provide transparency on the issues and situation
  • Enhance supplier relationships by supporting building robustness in their engineering processes and help assure the creation of Continuous Improvement plans or road-maps
  • Restore and secure supplier quality and on time delivery
  • Systematically apply Quality Standards such as PPS and DFMEAs
  • Set and follow long term development targets together with the suppliers.
  • Initiate and steer suppliers' performance improvement projects (lean and change activities)
  • Ensure sustainability of solutions deployed at suppliers
  • Generate lessons learned sessions between Airbus and suppliers
  • Ensure implementation of methods and tools to support supplier development
  • Ensure the transverse view (cross program) when applicable
  • Report regularly and manage feedback to internal customers and stakeholders
  • Support the improvement of Airbus processes, amongst others.
  • Work in close cooperation and with support of all related Airbus functions

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of status reports to management

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

  • Strong relationship skills with demonstrated Airbus Supplier interfacing experience.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of Continuous Improvement including change management tools with applications delivering tangible results.
  • Knowledge in DOA, new developments process and FCO / customization process. Technical authority and technical authority processes knowledge is a plus.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a related subject area.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, supply chain, quality or manufacturing engineering fields related to the Cabin environment is a plus.
  • Following areas of expertise are a real advantage: Configuration Management, FCO process and change process, Airworthiness, Engineering risk management, Cabin specifics (modules technical knowledge), knowledge of Quality Standards (PPS, DFMEA, etc.).
  • Good project management, supplier management and /or team management skills.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office and the Airbus toolset.
  • Strong leadership skills, as well as assertiveness and diplomacy.
  • Capable of working autonomously, remotely and be able to take decisions.
  • Flexible team player across functions, complying with company values and behaviors.

Education / Special Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and at least three years related experience with Airbus. 
  • Technical authority in a cabin related ATA chapter is a plus.

Unique Position Details:

  • Position can require multiple long term temporary assignments at supplier locations.
  • Position requires 90% travel.
  • English: Negotiation level
  • German and French: Working level is a plus
