Position Summary:

The Regulatory Legal Affairs and Data Privacy Counsel will lead and implement the Airbus Privacy (Data Protection) program within Airbus Americas and its subsidiaries and controlled joint ventures. In addition, this role provides legal regulatory support in the US to the General Counsel, government affairs and safety teams. This position will work in close coordination with the Airbus Regulatory Legal Affairs and Privacy team in Europe. The position has a reporting line to the Airbus Americas Head of US IP and Digital and coordinates with the Head of Airbus Regulatory Legal Affairs and Personal Data Protection Officer (DPO). This position also is part of the Airbus Americas One Roof Legal & Compliance team.

Primary Responsibilities:

Inform and advise on Airbus privacy obligations: 50%

  • Raise awareness and provide training
  • Advise business on how to collect and process personal data to ensure adequate protection of personal data
  • Manage a network of Privacy Focal Points in the US functions, sites and subsidiaries and provide them guidance and advice as to personal data protection requirements
  • Provide advice regarding Personal Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) to ensure that when personal data is collected and/or processed, it is done so in consideration of the rights of the individuals whose personal data is concerned and the risks to their right to privacy
  • Generally provide advice to the business on personal data protection requirements in the US

Assist Airbus in monitoring internal compliance: 20%

Conduct fit-checks and audits of subsidiaries, partners and business processes: 20%

  • Deliver Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) reporting inputs as necessary
  • Ensure close coordination with Ethics & Compliance in the region
  • Ensure business processes that manage personal data are assessed and recorded in the central register

Regulatory Legal Support and other matters: 30%

  • Provide legal support and anticipation to ensure compliance with respect to other regulatory topics in the US including FAA, DOT, FTC, trade, ESG and security
  • Support the drafting of government related correspondence and comments
  • Other duties/projects as assigned

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required
  • JD (US Legal degree and State Bar preferred)

Experience:

  • 5-10 years professional experience in international companies or law firms with exposure to regulatory and privacy matters

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Strong business orientation with a solid legal and privacy background
  • Extensive knowledge of privacy requirements
  • Ability to direct and follow through with policy implementation
  • Ability to provide comments to draft regulations and other government related documents
  • Demonstrated experience in an entrepreneurial, self-directed role
  • Ability to work well as part of a geographically dispersed team
  • Experience working as part of a multi-functional team across several divisions
  • Strong influencing and communication skills

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills in English
  • Ability to influence and present well
  • French, German or Spanish language skills a plus, but not required

Travel Required:

  • 20% Domestic and International
