HR IM Application Specialist

Position Summary:

The HR IM Application Specialist is responsible for the management of IM Services and related applications & tools within the HR domain, namely Workday and including Legacy systems. HR components will include PA/OM, Benefits, Recruiting, Compensation, Talent, and Learning.

Responsibilities include the monitoring of Maintenance, Support and Operations, of those services. In her/his role, the jobholder will be accountable to, and an interface between internal customers and various stakeholders responsible for running the services (suppliers, subcontractors, Solution Integrators, Airbus IM Europe, etc.). Her/his priority will be to manage HR products with a clear roadmap service stakeholders while following a standard operating model.

Key Missions:

  • Assists in the Planning, implementation and management of HR solutions. Assures that Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Operational Level Agreements (OLAs) contracts, Project mandates and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are adhered to.
  • Facilitate the transformation of our HR IT roadmap including HCM, Payroll and Time Tracking and Absence Management. Our transformation will include the migration of SAP HCM and other legacy components to mainly (but not limited to) Workday solutions. HCM components will include PA/OM, Benefits, Recruiting, Compensation, Talent, and Learning.
  • Assists in the negotiation of contracts with the various business domains or customers and is in alignment with the IM HR PSL Lead.
  • Monitors, reports and fulfills the SLAs;
  • Takes mitigation action in case of non-fulfilment of agreements
  • Her/his priority will be to manage those services as products with a clear roadmap and to adhere to a standard operating model

Primary Responsibilities:

Services Management, Design and Strategy: 10%

  • Assures the SLA, OLA contracts and KPIs are met and is aligned to the HR PSL and Domain Lead expectations
  • Drives and reports on the delivery of IS services according to Service Levels Agreements and cost optimization for infrastructure or applications
  • Defines the required corrective actions to be led to meet the objectives
  • Ensures services are delivered in accordance with agreed customer requirements and that they continue to meet or exceed expectations
  • Monitors both insourced and outsourced teams and activities (in conjunction with contract management done in the sourcing teams)
  • Define and implement a Service Catalog for each product under his/her responsibility
  • Fosters continuous improvement of the service portfolio and service level management
  • Define any knowledge database management to support and improve the maintenance activities
  • Responsible for License management and compliance of his/her products
  • Works with other IM domains such as Infrastructure and Governance to improve the service and define a product roadmap.
  • Strongly collaborates with Airbus IM Europe to improve the operating model and quality of the services rendered in North America. Work together on product roadmaps.
  • Collaborates with global Airbus IM to develop and improve standards
  • Ensures compliance with Airbus IM standards, architecture & evolving cyber security requirements

Operations, Support and Maintenance: 10%

  • Monitors, reports and manages the fulfillment of the SLAs
  • Manages actions for mitigation in case of non-fulfillment in agreement with the IM HR PSL Lead
  • Manages the maintenance cost allocation together with the business
  • Assists in the standardization of support processes, procedures and escalation services across all Airbus North America divisions.
  • Act as a key IM contributor in front of internal customers in case of crisis or escalation
  • Liaise with both internal and external resolver groups on corrective actions or escalation procedures
  • Provide governance support and coordinate regular meetings with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders
  • Drive operational dashboards reporting on key KPI's and SLA's across support contracts

Projects and Service Transition: 60%

  • Perform detailed analysis of complex business process requirements and provide appropriate system solutions; identify, interpret, validate and document customer requirements
  • Facilitate workshops to collect business requirements
  • Map client business requirements, processes and objectives; develops necessary product modifications to satisfy clients' needs.
  • Design, customize, configure and testing of HR and integrated processes with shop floor solutions.
  • Identify gaps, issues and work around solutions.
  • Act as liaison with client for troubleshooting: investigate, analyses, and solve system problems.
  • Document functional designs, test cases and results.
  • Proactively identify and propose business process and/or system enhancements
  • Act as a liaison between the business functions and the technical team.
  • Provide ad-hoc training and user support as required
  • Work self-directed and independently; may act as subject matter mentor

People and Stakeholders Management: 10%

  • Manages escalations and leads action plans with all necessary stakeholders to fix and mitigate operational issues
  • Tracks the performance of Integrator / supplier personnel using contracted KPI's and SLA's, Initiate recommendations for Integrator / supplier improvements aligned with contractual agreements and provides oversite to the implementation of these improvements.
  • Develop relationships with other IM service delivery managers and domain leaders to build a comprehensive knowledge base of articles across the full spectrum of IM services.
  • Participates in the Business relationship for all Operational demands and issues

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:


  • Bachelor degree in HR and or IT equivalent in similar discipline is preferred


  • 5+ years' experience in HR ERP implementations is preferred. Workday considered an Asset
  • 5+ years of service delivery experience in an IM support environment is preferred.
    • You have good knowledge of HR components such as HCM, Payroll, Time Tracking, PA/OM, Benefits, Recruiting, Compensation, Talent, and Learning.
  • Experience in Occupational Health and Safety systems and time recording clocks systems is an asset
    • Experience with system/data migration, solution design, Architecture and development is a must
    • Process knowledge of the Aerospace and defense industry considered an asset
    • Experience with Business process definition and re-engineering.
    • Ability to collaborate with diverse functional teams to address important issues and to resolve them
  • Experience presenting Enterprise level solutions to executive management
  • Strong work ethic with good time management with ability to work with diverse teams and lead meetings.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Guide and mentor other team members
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, agile, team-oriented environment


  • HR ERP certification with Workday or similar is an asset

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Knowledge of HR environments including integration with other function processes

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and facilitation skills
  • Fluency in English and French language skills are a plus

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Knowledge of Portals, data flows is a plus
  • Knowledge of Workday (HCM, Payroll, Benefits and Time ) is a plus
  • Knowledge of Cloud solutions is a plus
  • Knowledge of Business intelligence is a plus
