Position Summary:

In the frame of supplier industrialization during development (NPI) and overseeing supplier activities post development, the job holder is accountable within the assigned scope to ensure on Quality, on Time deliveries by managing milestones, product life cycle reviews and deliverables coordinating with internal and external stakeholders. The individual is the key supplier interface to ensure all supply risks are anticipated and mitigated and a preventative surveillance plan is implemented.

Primary Responsibilities:

Supply Chain Management: 60%

  • Protect production through correcting, improving and developing suppliers delivery and quality performance including related follow up of action plans
  • Monitor, control and drive progress, Identify and Mitigate risks & opportunities, Communicate status & plans and Escalate where relevant
  • Monitor and control supplier performance and define and lead/monitor recovery and improvement actions when needed, on live programs and in preparation of the future
  • Manage corrective action plans to avoid re-occurrences and therefore reduce the number of deviations and concessions

Industrialization/Quality & Compliance: 30%

  • Contribute to deployment of SC&Q standards, methods & tools
  • Lead VRB and represent SCQ operations in various forums (e.g. SED, TEB, MFT)
  • Contribute to Sub-Commodity strategy through active participation to MFTs including supplier selection, contract set up and supplier development needs
  • Defining product, supplier, site, qualification, inspection and surveillance plan with all relevant contributors

Additional Responsibilities, 10%

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:


  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Management or equivalent
  • Preferred: Master's Degree in Engineering or Procurement Field


  • At least 3 years of experience in the Aerospace / Space Industries
  • At least 5 years of experience in activities which have allowed you to acquire sound skills and knowledge of:
    • Engineering/Quality/Manufacturing/Technical Procurement
  • Project management: Less than 3 years
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Electronic Manufacturing facilities


  • Preferred: Category 2 Approval to ECSS Standards, such as ECSS-Q-ST- 70-08, or equivalent J-STD.
  • Preferred: CPIM APICs Basics certification

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Preferred: Competences in PMCA, IPCA+ and CCP assessments.
  • Preferred: Experience with APQP
  • Act as key operational supplier interface and inspire trust & teamwork between Airbus & suppliers
  • Live the AIRBUS values and be a role model for Ethics and Compliance in day to day relationship with supplier

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Strong communication skills including active listening and empathy
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to persuade, influence and convince
  • Excellent skills in relationship building, team building, empowering, motivating others and conflict management
  • Required: Negotiation level of English, both written and verbal
  • Preferred: Negotiation level of Spanish, both written and verbal

Travel Required/Other Locale Specifications:

  • Up to 40% Domestic US travel. Possibility for the occasional need to travel to Europe.
  • Expectation is to be onsite at supplier(s) 80% of time.
  • One remote (home office day) per week is typical.

Decision Making, Complexity:

The Job holder will be part of a small team and will be able to act independently and be a self-starter. The management support for the Job Holder is US based, as are the suppliers. Most (internal and external) customers will be based in Europe.

Organizational information:

The job holder will be part of the Airbus Americas Procurement team whose internal customers includes Airbus DS and their activities in relation to Space Systems (SpS), Military Air Systems (MAS), Connected Intelligence (CI) and Unmanned Aerial Services (UAS).

Involved, negotation type Communication on a daily basis with internal and external parties
