Position Summary: This role provides senior level leadership of Compensation, Benefits, Payroll and Global Mobility for all North America Airbus entities in support of the one-roof approach, acting as the senior human resources leader delivering high quality customer focused service supporting the employees and executives while adapting for various business needs. The role serves as the internal North America expert for progressive compensation and benefits practices, technical advice and guidance in the development, recommendation, delivery and implementation of compensation, payroll, benefits, and global mobility programs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Benefits:35%
  • Develop and oversee benefits center of competency and benefit philosophy for North America entities. Develop health & welfare and retirement benefit strategies in alignment with business strategy to leverage economies of scale, support individual business needs.
  • Develop and promote compliance in benefits (health and retirement) administration. Establish standard charter for the compliant administration and fiduciary oversight and governance of all Airbus North America Entity retirement and health and welfare plans.
  • Review the effectiveness of programs and efficiency in terms of process and providers for to ensure that the Airbus North America Entities receive the best value for the best price, and serve as a key member in market and compliance evaluation of all North America benefit plans and programs.
  • Centralize annual renewals for cost efficiency and best practice review and harmonization across the North America entities.
  1. Compensation: 25%
  • Develop and oversee compensation center of competency and compensation philosophy for North America entities.
  • Develop and maintain compensation structures to facilitate harmonized approach for North America entities while allowing individual businesses to recruit and retain employees while balancing business financial objectives, and enabling mobility across the North America entities.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of harmonized compensation elements (grade, salary, bonus, other) to competitively position the North America Airbus entities and achieve desired employee behaviors and retention, consistent with overall Group level strategy, philosophy, and direction.
  • Establish and partner with North America Airbus HR leadership to engage benchmarking, consult with strategically, and make recommendations to ensure the alignment of compensation programs to strategic business objectives directions. Influence when major adjustment to design and approach is required.
  • Provide direct oversight for Airbus Americas and Airbus Helicopters compensation programs.
  • Lead and direct annual review and salary planning to ensure North America entities remain competitive, reward and recognize high performers. Partner with HR leadership and HRBPs to deliver a collaborative, efficient and transparent process with leadership. Coordination and establish proactive action on compensation issues at the Group and entity level.
  • Lead Group compensation initiatives (ESOP, LTIP, Success Sharing, etc.) for North America.
  1. Payroll: 20%
  • Oversee the HO Payroll Operations and Payroll Manager to oversee and supervise payroll functions across North America, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.
  • Provide direction (as necessary) to ensure payroll reporting, policies and payments are compliant with company policy, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and applicable regulations.
  • Liaise as needed with Payroll, HR Digital, and/or vendor to achieve solutions or administer company payroll system with outside service provider.
  • Lead the transition to alternate payroll platforms as applicable.
  1. Mobility: 15%
  • Develop and oversee development and implementation US Mobility center of competency for all US expatriate management topics.
  • Provide senior leadership on mobility strategy for North America, looking to global policy and local implementation to support business strategy and promote cost effective employee mobility.
  • Oversee volume expatriate management for large projects.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Lead all executive US compensation initiatives by liaising with Airbus SE Compensation & Benefits for a harmonized and consistent approach, while focusing on North America market.
  • Oversee Executive Employment: pre-employment, contract negotiation, on-boarding and off-boarding for US executives based in the US or aboard, including STAR program and global Senior Executives.
  • Liaise with Airbus SE for strategic planning, alignment and coordination within Compensation, Benefits and Mobility.
  • Focal point for M&A, and divestiture activity in North America
  • Support Airbus projects for North America
  • Identify compliance risks and develop mitigation strategies. Oversee implementation of mitigation strategies.
  • Support HO HR NA with promoting compliance across all areas of HR in North America

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:


  • Bachelor degree in Human Resources, Business, a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Master degree is preferred.


  • 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, with at least 3 years in a lead HR role, or a Master's degree and 6 years of progressive HR experience with at least 3 years which includes an in depth understanding of Airbus systems and processes.

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Demonstrated success as a senior level HR manager and leadership advisor handling organizational, staffing, employee relations, compensation, benefits, performance management, and training/development issues.
  • Decisive with a strategic focus as well as an operational, implementation, detail oriented and compliance perspective with the ability to navigate challenging situations and develop well though-out solutions by blending knowledge of law, policy, HR regulations, and sound judgment and to also create alignment, influence, and direct others in a matrix environment.
  • Demonstrated relationship building skills with other employees, subsidiaries and international colleagues; must work well in a team environment.
  • Exceptional leadership, negotiation and facilitation skills, experienced in resolving conflicts between different parties to a dispute.
  • Ability to work directly with management, senior management, and group executives locally and internationally, building consensus to achieve required solutions.
  • Customer focused with a strong business orientation.
  • Well-organized and self-directed, diplomatic with "politically savvy" and an engaged, collaborative team player.
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. employment and benefit laws and regulations strongly desired.
  • Highly professional presentation skills required; able to present clear and concise briefings and reports to executives and employees, both individually or within a team setting or large group.
  • Knowledge of the Airbus organization, HR processes and contacts, and/or experience working in a subsidiary operation a plus.
  • Previous experience working in a multi-cultural environment, International experience preferred.

  • Superior written, presentation and oral communication, interpersonal and consultative skills, as well as effective result-oriented problem solving skills.
  • Ability to articulate intelligently and relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills.

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Proficient in HRIS, web applications, with advanced knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications.

Travel Required:

  • Up to 25% Domestic and International
