Position Summary: 

Coordinates Strategy & Corporate Development projects, tracks and report financials, risks, and other required reports. Keeps HO Strategy & Corporate Development and other team members informed on project status.

This assignment is expected to be approximately one (1) year in duration and will start in January 2020.  There is a possibility that the role will lead to an opportunity in Mobile, AL following the year assignment in Herndon, VA for 2020. 

Primary Responsibilities:

Project manage strategy implementation projects. 30%

  • Plan, commence, execute, supervise, and roundup assigned projects with internal and external strategy organizations.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure projects are carried out in accordance with the appropriate specifications and within standards.
  • Responsible for information flow from project owner to the project team.

Assist with headquarters reporting. 25% 

  • Generate reports for Airbus in the Americas on behalf of CEO prior to each Executive Committee meeting
  • Generate reports for Airbus in the Americas prior to each Airbus Board of Directors meeting
  • Work with the Director of Strategy on additional information and ad-hoc reports
  • Assist in coordination of reporting and streamlining of reporting across divisions and functions within the Americas.  

Manage administrative and other reporting. 25%

  • Assist in creation of Click n Buy orders (Airbus Procurement process), assuring that appropriate HMG and GL codes are used
  • Manage all IM invoices, assuring that goods/services have been received and pricing is correct.
  • Follow up with Accounts Payable on past due invoices.
  • Assist in creation and population of monthly Airbus eNess reports.
  • Assist Head of Strategy & Corporate Development with budget tracking.
  • Coordinate with HO Strategy & Corporate Development to populate and track Enterprise Risk Management tool
  • Organize and track Strategy & Corporate Development annual goals and objectives 

Support M&A activities. 10%

  • Build target screening database with potential acquisition targets
  • Assist in creating one-pagers and presentations on potential targets 

Additional Responsibilities. 10%

  • Conduct internal /external research on variety of and in support of Strategy related topics
  • Organize all logistical arrangements and assist HO Strategy & Corporate Development in executing two annual Strategy off-sites
  • Set up/arrange for complex meetings between Strategy & Corporate Development and external attendees

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training: 

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree ideally in business, finance, international relations or a technical area 

Experience:

  • Desired: Prior internship experience ideally in aerospace or defense related Corporate setting 

Licensure/Certifications:

  • None 

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Proficiency with Google Suites and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to learn new technologies. 

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to speak easily with internal and external senior executives and employees. 

Travel Required:

  • 10% domestic 

Decision Making, Complexity:

  • Prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously and following through on issues in a timely manner.
  • This position requires the ability to work independently and also collaborate as a team member. 

Organizational information:

  • Strategy & Corporate Development team is composed of 4 internal employees in Herndon, Virginia 

Nature of Contacts:

  • Position requires expertise in, written, verbal, and non-verbal communications skills with Head of Strategy & Corporate Development and team members on a daily basis, as well as with both internal and external executives and employees. 

Physical Requirements:

Normal lifting, carrying, sitting, standing, squatting/kneeling, walking, speaking, hearing, vision, manual dexterity, and travel required of a purely administrative position. 

 

This position is a temporary (contract) position with no specific time period but could be extended or shortened as needed.  Contractors are employed by a 3rd party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus in America.
